About Adam
Adam Hart is a 26-year-old author, journalist and historian from Pembrokeshire, Wales. He now lives in west London.
After completing an undergraduate degree in history at Exeter University, Adam trained as a journalist at Cardiff University. In 2022, he won a travel journalism bursary which allowed him to retrace his great-grandfather’s epic escape from occupied Europe in 1943. This led to his debut book Operation Pimento published by Hodder and Stoughton in June 2025.
It not only tells the epic escape of Adam’s great-grandfather, but also Adam’s journey in 2022 retracing Frank’s footsteps and meeting descendants of the heroic French civilians who saved him. Already a Second World War enthusiast, this sparked Adam’s interest in the wartime RAF which has become his specialty subject.
Operation Pimento was described by Andy McNab as ‘truly inspiring’ and it was shortlisted for the Hatchards First Biography Prize alongside Sarah Wynn-Williams’ Careless People (Pan, 2025) and Ian Leslie’s John and Paul (Faber, 2025).
Passionate and articulate, Adam has extensive experience of TV and Radio having appeared on BBC Antiques Roadshow, ITV Evening News, Sunday with Michael Portillo on GB News, Radio 4, TimesRadio, BBC Radio Wales and many more to talk about his great-grandfather’s exploits.
He is also an experienced public speaker and has given talks at an array of festivals and venues like the Chalke History Festival, Battle of Britain Bunker Speaker Series, Nevill Holt Festival, Southwick D-Day Revival, Gloucester History Festival, the Senedd (Welsh Parliament), Hereford Military History Festival as well as various bookshops, museums, literary societies, WIs, private members’ clubs, history clubs and schools.
Whilst promoting his book, Adam was commissioned by a private client to research a historic WW2 Spitfire that still flies today (serial MK912). The Spitfire is operated by Lilham Aviation and Adam’s fully documented book is available to read on their website. Adam is now engaged on a new private research project again concerning Spitfires.
